Tromsø, Norway / December 28th, 2015 - January 1st, 2016
In Norway we finally saw our dream come true: experience the Northern Lights. Special thanks to Wandering Owl and Chasing Lights, really amazing companies that helped us plan such experience with warm boots, proper winter suits, bonfires and really professional guides that contributed to making this experience wonderful and unforgettable.
We spent 4 lovely days in chilly Trondheim on our way to chase the Northern Lights. There was not really much to do in town, but we enjoyed walking on empty streets full of Christmas lights, made dinner for two and walked as much as the snow allowed us to (I haven't felt my cold feet as numb as I did in Norway). The visual highlight of this trip was the amazing Nidarosdomen, the world’s northernmost medieval cathedral, and Norway’s national sanctuary.
Special thanks to my friend Claudia and her husband Halvor for hosting us at their wonderful apartment.
Copenhagen, Denmark / December 18th - December 23rd, 2015
Starting on my 31st birthday on December 18th, 2015, I documented my travel adventures by sketching the little details I enjoyed the most every day. Copenhagen was amazing as it was the first time I saw my boyfriend Adrian after 116 days apart. Meeting him on my birthday was magical and enjoying the city together after such a long time away from each other made our travel experience very special. We encountered hygge, a Danish word that can translate into cozy or charming, in every corner and detail in the city. As the sun sets earlier around Scandinavia, the lights and warmness of little cafes in town, street lights and even Yayoi's exhibition at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art turned our dark winter evenings into whimsical adventures.
